Thomas Lane Biography:
| Thom grew up in San Jose, California at the beginning of the great agate and jasper era and cut his first stone when he was twelve in the garage of a rockhound who lived down the street. Thom is now 73 and as you can see that his hobby and eventually career in the stone world is a long one. Thom has cut cabochons professionally since 1980 and mined Morrisonite with Gene Mueller and Jake Jake Jacobitz from 1995 through 1998, the last year it was mined. Thom then mined the Agua Nueva and Laguna agates, also with Gene Mueller, in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007. Thom still cuts cabochons when he finds something really nice but his main focus lately has been on collector specimens. During the last decade Thom has sold regularly at the Tucson gem show and has a large following of major collectors. The last few years have been at the Riverpark Inn, but next year Thom will be at Electric Park in the RV Gem Show area. |
